The Burn Brae Day Camp family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of its beloved owner and director, Lisa Kasser, who passed away early Friday morning, August 14. Her death has left campers, families, staff members, and the many people whose lives she touched with a deep sense of sadness and gratitude for the legacy she created.
For years, Lisa dedicated herself to building Burn Brae Day Camp into more than just a summer camp. She created a place where children could feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. Through her vision, compassion, and commitment, Lisa cultivated a creative, kind, and inclusive environment where lifelong memories were made and meaningful relationships were formed.
Those who knew Lisa understand how deeply she loved camp. Burn Brae was not simply a workplace or a business—it was a reflection of her values and her belief in the importance of community, connection, and providing children with a safe and joyful place to grow. Her passion could be seen in every corner of the camp and in every relationship built there.
The Burn Brae community is now remembering Lisa’s warmth, leadership, and the countless ways she made a difference. Families who became part of the camp’s journey are expressing appreciation for the opportunity to experience the welcoming environment she worked so hard to create.
In a message shared with the camp community, those close to Lisa emphasized that her greatest legacy is the beautiful place she built and the relationships that continue because of Burn Brae. Her influence will remain through the campers, staff, and families who carry forward the values she championed.
A Celebration of Life for Lisa Kasser will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 2–5 p.m. at Burn Brae Day Camp. Remarks and programming will begin at 3 p.m., providing an opportunity for the community to gather, share memories, and honor Lisa’s remarkable life.
As the Burn Brae family comes together during this difficult time, they are holding onto the joy, kindness, and love Lisa brought to so many people. Her legacy will continue through the camp she cherished and the countless lives she inspired.
May Lisa Kasser be remembered with love, appreciation, and gratitude for the lasting impact she made.
